Is there anyway to get high speed wireless in a rural area where only dial up is available?

I was told that there is an antennae that can be purchased that would allow a person to get high speed wireless in a rural area where only dial up is available. If this is true, or close to true, can someone please advise or point me in the right direction.

1. Some localities have microwave based ISP's available which can be a good alternative. If you do not have one locally, then you need to investigate satellite based ISP's which use a dish antenna and special equipment to provide access. It can be costly but often is the only alternative for isolated locations.
