How fast should Orange Broadband Wireless 'Livebox' be able to communicate with a PC? Just upgraded to Orange's unlimited 8meg wireless broadband service (Livebox). Despite having installed a 108Mbps wireless card in my PC, the connection between my PC and the Livebox is indicated in my PC task tray as being 54Mbps. Is this all the livebox is capable of or do I need to do 'something' to get a 108Mbps connection established? Orange say 'ignore this, everyone's indicates 54Mbps'?? Is this true? Should I just accept what I have at this point. (Interestingly, Orange also tell me that my internet connection upgrade in speed to 8meg has not yet taken place - I'm still on 2meg for now - but I don't see this increasing the speed between Livebox and PC -- or will it??)

My understanding is that a big part of this choice has to do w the Wireless Broadband Provider - Sprint, Verizon, Cingular, etc. I have been told that each provider has its own 'hardware' - towers, etc. So, signal strength varies from one carrier to another. That is a big deal. How do I determine which providers are better and which are worse in my area ? (North Metro Atlanta - 30076). I don't travel very often, and if I do, it's to other larger cities in the US. 99% of my connection time will be in/around Atlanta. I have also been told that I should / have to get both of these from the same provider (the PDA service and the Wireless Broadband service for my laptop). The PDA will be my cell phone, also.
