Will the same Blackberry Bold 9700 work w/ both Rogers and Wind networks? Are they two different models? I know I will have to unlock it if its locked to a carrier (i.e. Rogers Bold needs to be unlocked before its properly usable on any other network) but can the same 9700 switch from GSM to Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) spectrum instantly? Why is my wireless connection on my laptop not working? If I am using windows to configure my wireless network settings, I can not see any wireless networks on my PC. The wireless is working on my other laptop. If I try to manually add a wireless network via Advanced Settings, the network disappears and no longer appears if I go back to edit it. Any suggestions? "Windows cannot configure this wireless connection."? Please let me know if I fixed this properly. I have Windows XP Pro SP2. My Wireless is an Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG. When I turned on my laptop it came up to my Desktop picture, and for a few minutes did not go further than that. The status light wasn't moving, so it seemed as if it had finished loading everything. When it eventually finished loading I got the following message when going to View Available Wireless Networks: Windows cannot configure this wireless connection. If you have enabled another program to manage this wireless connection, use that software. If you want Windowss to configure this wireless connection, start the wireless zero configuration service. I connected hard-wired and found a tips online. This is what I was told to do: Control Panel>AdministrativeTools>Services Wireless Zero Connections>Start Then: View available wireless networks>Change advanced settings>Wireless networks tab>tick "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings

Does anyone know why AT&T wireless bills a month in advance? I'm using a bundled service of home-phone, 2 wireless lines, dish networks and the internet access, all from AT&T. I made a change of home number (new address) and they billed me the bundled billing of all the services I mentioned above, but also, I received a 2nd bill for my wireless only. I called AT&T customer service and she said that AT&T bills wireless services a month in advance. But then, when I asked how do they control my billings when the prepaid month has reached to the end of the billing cycle in case I've exceeded my original plan amount, she wasn't clear at all. Windows cannot configure this wireless network connection? Everytime computer is restarted, I cant connect. I take these steps to get it to work, but i have to repeat them EVERYTIME i log on. Can't set up a wireless network (ADVANCED HELP)? Router: D-link DI-624 Computer: Gateway Windows XP 2003 I had a nice wireless network and then it stopped working. When i open up the network connections all I have is a Local Area Connection and when I try to add a new wireless connection I get... "Incoming connections depend on routing and remote access service which was unable to start. For more information, check the system event log." I searched it up on google and found its Error 711: the website is: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330163 I followed the instuctions up to telephony and click properties, but when I open it up its already Manual and its already STARTED. So i restarted it but it was unable to stop. I get " Could not stop Telephony on a Local computer. Error 1053: The server did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. Fixing the wireless connection and other problems? This all started about a week ago or so when I went to adjust the volume on my laptop and it made this awfully loud beep and an error bubble popped up. I immediately went online and tried fixing it. I followed some instructions about going to Run and typing in Chkdsk /f, but I got this error: "Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in the use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts?" I clicked yes and restarted my laptop. Then a black screen came up and it said one of the files on my laptop was corrupted. At this point this was the only thing on my screen and I couldn't access anything. I went on my desktop and found out how to revert to the original factory settings (CTRL+F11) and that worked. After I got back to the regular windows desktop everything seemed to be fine. My wireless internet worked and I was able to go online and everything, just like when I first got my laptop. The only problem was that I had lost all my files which sucked, but at least my laptop was working. A couple of days later I brought my laptop to school and I turned on my laptop and noticed that it wasn't picking up my school's wireless internet like it usually did. I clicked the wireless connection status icon and this message popped up where I should be seeing a list of wireless connections: "Windows cannot configure his wireless connection. If you have enabled another program to manage this wireless connection, use that software. If you want Windows to configure this wireless connection, start the Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) service. For information about the WZC service, see article (871122) in the Microsoft Knowledge Base on microsoft.com Web site." I had never seen this before, because my laptop had been working completely fine at home and at school up until about a week ago. I used my phone's internet to search for a solution to this problem and ended up doing this: Start > Run > Typed: services.msc > Pressed enter > Wireless Zero Configuration Service > Automatic > Start > OK. Then I went to Change Advanced Settings > Wireless Networks > Checked: Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings > OK. This worked... for about 5 seconds because the connection suddenly disconnected. Then reconnected. Then disconnected... over and over. So after this I just quit and waited until I got home to see if I could fix this problem there. Once I got home I turned on my laptop and found that it was connected to an internet, but when I went to check what it was connected to, I was again could not a list of connections. Just the same "Windows cannot configure his wireless connection...etc" message. I went through the same method as I did at school and finally the internet started to work without disconnecting every 5 seconds. Thinking I solved the problem, I turned my laptop off. The next day I went on again and I saw I was connected, but then I went to check the connection and saw none and I had to do this whole thing over again. And since then every time I turn on my laptop I have to go through the same process of starting my wireless zero configuration. Am I doing anything wrong? I'm supposing I must be because of everything that's been happening to my laptop for the past week or so... before this it worked fine at home and at school. I had no problems connecting to the internet at all. Thanks! This is driving me crazy.

How can I keep my Wireless Zero Configuration turned on so I don't have to restart my internet every day? Every time I turn my computer on, I have to go back into my Services dialogue box, and start my Wireless Zero Configuration up, before going into my wireless advanced settings, selecting an account, and logging in. It's a HUGE pain in the butt, and I would really just like to be able to turn my computer on, and use the internet without the hassle of having to start it all up every time. Is there any way to fix this...? I've brought it to two different computer specialists, and neither of them were any help at all.

Could you help me with my wireless connection? I had to re-install windows on my computer, due to a virus problem. When I finished re-installing everything, and clicked on the Wireless Network Connection icon that is on the bottom right hand side of my computer it didn't list any available networks, but said that Windows could not configure the wireless connection. It also said to look up an article in the Microsoft knowledge base. I did this (on a different computer, of coarse) and didn't really get anywhere with it. After some tinkering around, I finally found out that the knowledge base was telling me the right things, but in the wrong order. I now have to type %systemroot%\system32\services.msc /s into the run box, and then scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration and then click start. From there I go back to the Wireless Network connection and click on "change advanced settings/wireless networks and then click on "use windows to configure my wireless network settings." I'm running out of room, I'll add more details. Anyway, doing the above lets me connect to the internet for a time, but after a few hours, it disconnects. I am trying to figure out why this is happening, and how I make it stay connected. Can you help me?

How can network users use V.92 modem on hold on a wireless home network? Greetings, I have an ad-hoc wireless network in my home and need remote modem-on-hold. I live in a rural area where there are far more deer than people, with no chance of a broadband connection being offered by my phone company. My wife and I both run businesses out of our home that require us to be on the internet a great deal through our 56k dialup connection. Clients occasionally call, and though we have the "Callwave" service and tried similar services they are not really what we need. I am looking for a way that any of the computers on the network can use the modem-on-hold v.92 feature so that any home network user can answer the call by voice even though the modem in use is on the network server as an ICS internet gateway. What are the best settings for a wireless connection? I'm using a wireless PCI adapter to connect to a new internet provider in Toronto. My signal strength is about 50% all the time and they have a frequency at 802.11b . I can download files up to 200KB/s (sometimes even more) but my problem is that I always have to refresh the pages alot until I get the website in my browser...it always says "waiting for www...." Do you guys think it is a connection problem, a setting problem or is it just from the service provider? I always (or almost all the time) get the website loaded but it is a pain having to refresh the browser over and over to get the whole page. Wireless Zero Configuration keeps stopping? I am using an HP desktop computer, and i am using at&t's uverse wireless adapter and its a netopia 3D adapter. I'm on a two year plan which began on February 26th, 2008 and I'm quite unhappy with the service Verizon provides. I'd like to cancel my service with them to switch to AT&T, but can not find any assistance on their website. Do they purposefully make it difficult to cancel? I would prefer to cancel online as I detest dealing with customer service. How can I go about canceling my service with minimal fees? I have heard that if you cancel in the middle of a cycle it will cost more than if you cancel on the last day of your billing cycle. Is this true? Thank you all in advance! :)

Help, I'm Frustrated - Wireless Network Connection? My computer, running Windows XP, will not connect to the Internet and I don't understand why! Our upstairs computer is running fine (obviously). The right side of my task-bar shows the connection icon (a single computer) with a small red 'x' over it. When I right click it and go into Wireless Network Connections, there is no icon, instead I see this: "Windows cannot configure this wireless connection. If you have enabled another program to manage this wireless connection, use that software. If you want Windows to configure this wireless connection, start the Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) service. For information about starting the WZC service, see article 871122 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base on the microsoft.com Web site." Should I trade my Verizon Wireless service for Page Plus Cellular? My phone bill is a whooping $300.00/month, with two lines, a mifi, and no unlimited calling. The Page Plus Cellular deal is unlimited talk and text (no multimedia messaging included) with 40 MB web for $39.95/month. I am only going to terminate my line and possibly even the mifi. Should I drop Verizon Wireless and go with Page Plus Cellular? I know PPC runs off VW network, but have inferior service, As long as I can talk, I guess it doesn't really matter. How do I get internet access for laptop to fixed wireless service connected through ethernet on desktop? I am admittedly a technological Neanderthal,compared to many out there and I'm hoping someone can help me. I just bought a laptop with a built-in router. I have fixed wireless in my home that comes in through a connection via the ethernet port on my desktop. The salesman told me I didn't need another router to get the internet service on my new laptop because one is built in already. I am not sure I understand how to obtain internet service to my laptop via the built-in router ONLY if my desktop obtains it via the ethernet port. I understand that I would have to go through a set-up process with passwords and such, but do I or do I not need an additional router other than the one built-in to my laptop? This is admittedly an amateurish question, but hell, I'm an amateur. Any wisdom from you tech gurus out there would be MUCH appreciated. My ISP guy is on vacation until next week or I would ask him. Mac Wireless Connection using AirPort...? I am using Mac wireless connection and just today I have start to realize in the AirPort menu (on the top right on my screen) inside, there is 'devices' column . Device column dynamically re-appears above other networks column and it contains 'someone else' nickname. My Internet provider has different name. Am I being hacked? My wireless router won't work on my new cable service. Any ideas? I had my secured connection up and running with no problems a couple days ago. Then we moved everything to our new house and when I set up the connection, my laptop said my wireless connection to my router is excellent, my desktop said the LAN connection is good to go but I can't access the Internet. Looked like a DNS problem. I brought up the command prompt and did a release and renew and I secured an IP address with no problems. I also tried repair just in case. I didn't change anything on my router, such as key and password. I thought it would be a simple switchover because I switched from one cable provider to another one. What am I missing ? Wireless Network Help- (Thanks in advance) Laptop won't connect to network (from main computer)...? I cannot get my laptop to connect to my network. I have tried to get it connected by going to run>services.msc> wireless zero configuration>start service and then control panel>network/internet connections>wireless network properties>and check the box that says use windows to configure settings which is what I have to do each time I use the laptop in order to connect but that isn't working now and it's not showing my network on available networks even though on my main computer network magic says the network is connected. On my laptop it says disconnected, firewalled. So what can I do to fix this? I appreciate your help in advance. My laptop is actually the computer I mainly use so I need it fixed soon!

aol wireless broadband? im on Windows Me and i was sent an email about they changing over on 98 and me to the wireless service and i was sent a wireless modem but i have only set up stage one of the installation disk to use the wireless modem the same as i used to use the dsl modem no wireless has been set up, but i keep getting emails saying that i haven’t installed the modem. so is it not working properly or have AOL just made a mistake? and the wlan light aint on but is there anyway of people using my Internet connection? as you can tell im not good with new networking stuff Thanks for any help in advance

What happens if I miss A Payment with Verizon Wireless? OK, so I just started service with Verizon Wireless, I paid off the first month of service in advance, I get paid monthly only, and have other bills to deal with that aren't in my name... Any suggestions? Ok, so even if I do call them, and ask them, 'hey, im going to miss a payment for this month, will my service still be on within the 2 payments i already made on time before the due date?' So far, I've made my payments on time 7 days before the due date, and not a miss payment yet... but the problem is, -will i be charged a fee if i missed the payment? -will it affect my credit score if i missed one payment? -will I be double charged since I missed a payment? -will my service shut off if i didnt pay the bill?

manually restarting my windows conection every time - how can this be corrected? After buying a wireless router (Linksys) the router knocked the Windows Network Connection offline. I figured out how to manually restart it (services>wireless zero congigurator>start) but if my computer goes to sleep or is started/restarted, I always have to go back and redo this manually. Wireless router on cable internet? I have advanced cable communications service and with that i get my internet too. Problem with Windows Wireless connection? When I bought my laptop, I had trouble connecting to the internet. My computer does not connect to the wireless connection, even if I put the preference to do so. For an entire year, I have to click start then run "services.msc" then I must start the wireless zero configuartion (despite the fact that the startup type is set to automatic and I am doing it manually) then I go to my wireless network connection and go to "change advanced settings" then to the "wireless network tab" and click "Use windows to configure my wireless network settings". I have to do this every time my computer logs off, turns off, hibernates or even come back from stand by. Is there any way I can get my computer to do this automatically, despite the fact it is already checked as automatic? Yes I have checked the box for Windows Zero Configuration to start automatically but it doesn't. I have to do it manually every time.

wireless connection won't stay on- keep having to configure it and guest account won't connect to the internet To connect to my wireless network on my lap top I have to go to run-services.msc-wireless zero config- and start the service. Then I have to go to control panel-network connections, wireless network connections, and click use windows to configure wireless settings. I have to do this each time I get on the computer and if the computer is shut and then opened again I have to do this. My guest account on my lap top won't connect at all because it does an error:5 and denies access for that account to do the services.msc thing. How can I fix this? Thanks in advance.

Do wireless internet routers have different power strengths? We recently signed with Comcast for wireless internet service in our home. We have a basic (I'm sure ) system. The modem is a D-link DCM-202 and the router is a D-Link WBR-1310. We have one computer rather close to the units which always has excellent signal strength. Our 2nd computer is on the floor above and about another 15' away horizontally and has sporadic service at best; but usually no signal. Our house is frame, etc. without anything other than normal framing, plasterboard, etc. obstructions. We had one success with switching the CAT 6 cable from LAN to WAN; but again, it no longer worked. The computer upstairs is a pc with a wireless card; the unit that always works is a laptop. When we take the laptop to the upper floor, it also loses signal. I hope for any suggestions; and thanks in advance.

Mobile Wireless Internet Question!? I'm thinking about subscribing to T-mobile's wireless internet service, but I want to know a little bit more about it first. The website says that there are hot spots all over, but it doesn't say weather you must be in a hot spot to connect or if you merely have to be near one to get a signal. There is a hot spot 0.4 miles from my house, but I would be getting the subscription for my desktop, and so I wouldn't be able to take my computer directly to the hot spot. If you've never used t-mobile, can you recommend another wireless provider that is as cheap and as good as t-mobile? I don't have that much expendable income, and I can't get involved in any contracts, so I would need a plan that is relatively cheap and preferably on a pre-paid or month -to-month basis. Is there a way to make Windows control the wireless permanently? I removed AOL and portmagic from my dad's computer, but windows will not automatically take control of the wireless. Everytime I will use the internet I must enable wireless zero in the services (it's set to auto), and then I must go into advanced settings and tell windows to take control of the networks. How do I make this permanent? This is a laptop with built-in wireless. I saw on add/remove programs to reset defaults, but setting windows as the default wireless was not an option.

Dad uses broadband & his laptop has wireless card ... should I get him an antenna for when he goes to Florida? My dad joined modern society this year & switched from dial-up to broadband. The thing is, he goes to Florida for the winter. His laptop does have a wireless card, but I don't know if that means he'll be all set once he & his laptop get there. Wireless Router? Although I am computer literate the whole Wireless Internet is new to me. Currently I have a normal PC which when we want to use the internet (tiscali) we connect the wire running from the phone socket to the Pc. I am considering getting a laptop and would want to use a wireless router. My questions are: Is it easy to set up? Can I just stay with Tiscali ie it doest require a different service Does the wireless router replace the wire we connect the PC to?
